Lightwerk EP

A 4 track leftfield/idm ep (21m 52s) — released May 31st 2010 on Cookshop

Lost Idol, the moniker of Brighton-based producer James Dean, released his sophomore album 'Brave The Elements' on the Cookshop label earlier this year garnering praise for his electronic soundscapes which progressed fluidly through half-step beats, ambient washes & even Beach Boy harmonies. Following recent sold out support slots for the likes of Caribou, Fujiya & Miyagi, Dextro & Pantha Du Prince we present live favourite 'Lightwerk', a homage to the pioneering kraut cruisers of the autobahn. Opening with a whirling analogue synth melody, Dean builds the track with deft use of a motorik groove & pulsing bass, peaking mid-way with crashing drums & multi-layered melodies, gently applying the brakes for the latter half. Also featured on the EP is 'Beesmouth', a psych-inflected beat-driven piece named after the infamous Brighton drinking hole of the same name, plus remixes aimed at the more discerning, leftfield dancefloors from Zoon Van Snook & Digital Midgets. "An accomplished, mature work" – Clash "Creator of sublime electronic music of his own devising" – The Quietus
