Taster Two
A 4 track balearic / downtempo ep (18m 50s) — released November 1st 2004 on Cookshop
"snoozing jazz with a kick and affable aftertaste" - Matt Oliver Update
"Taster 2 unlocks the dancefloor side of what Cookshop records have been sneakily putting out over the last couple of years. There are four contributions here from 4 different artists ranging from Hospital style d and b to funky double-bass sampling breaks, this ep should be snapped up by Tru Thoughts fans and any DJ who wants their audience to dance like rabid lunatics." 3/5 - Matt Tarr Undercover
" the chefs raise the temperature for a considerably more dancefloor-orientated vibe. Lost Idol's summery instrumental hip-hop swings cheerily by, La Femme twists a submerged drum n' bass groove into a full-on sambafied riot, and Pimpernel Jones & JFB nod their heads vigorously over a jazzed-up, scratch-heavy jam. Winner by a nose, however, is Digital Midgets house-tempo "That People", a classy rump shaker that feels just as good on the dancefloor as it does on the i-pod. Sterling sounds from one of Brighton's most interesting outfits" - 4/5 - Juice
*This intriguing taster features Pimpernel Jones & JFB feverishly scratching digital breaks into low energy jazz trumpeting, the lugubrious Green Dolphins by Lost Idol, La Femme's ghostly funk of Never Complain and the more dance-floor orientated Digital Midgets grinding out a stabbing bottom end into percussive shuffle in That People." - Source Magazine
? Magazine (Taster 2 EP) Lost Idol?s entr?e is snoozing jazz with a kick and affable aftertaste. Digital Midgets (top name) serve a house-flavoured, straggly stew, topped with an allsorts garnish. La Femme adds seasoning before serving from Roni Size?s ?Brown Paper Bag?, and Pimpernel Jones? (another great name) ?Up Pompey?, coated in Herbaliser & spices, could well replace the half-time pie at Fratton Park. 4/5 - Matt Oliver DMC Update
